For 29 years, the Federation of Greek Communities of Ukraine (FGCU) has been uniting the Greek national community, implementing and supporting educational programs, including the study of the Modern Greek language and the languages of the Greeks of Ukraine, helping to preserve the unique cultural heritage, engaging folk artists and creative teams in joint events, and promoting Greek-Ukrainian relations. Through partnerships with charitable foundations, the FGCU also provides social help to civilians in frontline cities, IDPs, and children affected by the war.

The Federation of Greek Communities of Ukraine has been a member of FUEN since 2016.

Until 2014, the FGCU consisted of 96 societies, and after the full-scale invasion of Russia, only 36 Greek societies kept working in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.

After the occupation of Mariupol, which was the center of the Greek community in Ukraine, the FGCU moved to Kyiv.

Greeks of Ukraine are a Hellenic minority living on the territory of modern Ukraine. Most of them live in the Donetsk region. According to the 2001 All-Ukrainian Population Census, 91,548 ethnic Greeks live in Ukraine, which is 0.2% of the total population of Ukraine.
