FUEN Congress 2026: Congress website online, registration open
23.06.2026“Our annual congress is the place where the community of Europe’s autochthonous national minorities becomes truly visible.”
With these words, our President Olivia Schubert invites FUEN’s member organisations to our 2026 Annual Congress in Helsinki/Helsingfors. The congress website is now online, and registration for the 70th FUEN Congress is open.
The FUEN Congress 2026 will take place from 17 to 20 September 2026, for the first time in the Finnish capital. The host is Folktinget, the Swedish Assembly of Finland, which has been working for the linguistic rights and the status of Swedish in Finland for more than 100 years.
On the website congress2026.fuen.org, participants can now find the congress programme, information on registration, congress packages, accommodation at the Clarion Hotel® Helsinki, as well as details on travel and the host.
This year, the congress will focus on questions of language planning in education, public service media and healthcare. Developments in the areas of consumer protection and trademark law since the FUEN Congress 2025 will also be discussed. In addition to the expert discussions, the programme will include cultural and musical contributions from the host minority.
The congress will begin on Thursday afternoon, 17 September, at the Clarion Hotel® Helsinki and will end on Sunday morning, 20 September. The FUEN Assembly of Delegates will also take place during the congress on Saturday, 19 September. The member organisations have already been invited to this separately.
For the first registration phase, congress packages are available for the full period of three nights. These can be booked until 15 July 2026. Packages for one or two nights will be offered at a later stage, provided that rooms are still available at the congress hotel.
FUEN warmly invites its member organisations, delegates and guests to take part in the congress in Helsinki/Helsingfors and to use these days for exchange, networking and joint work on the concerns of Europe’s autochthonous national minorities.
