Presidium meeting in Berlin
08.10.2016On 6 and 7 October the new presidium of FUEN travelled to Berlin for their first meeting since the summer break. The new presidium under president Loránt Vincze, who were elected in Wrocław in May this year, then immediately had to started working on the major projects of FUEN of 2016: the European football championship EUROPEADA 2016 in South Tyrol in June and shortly afterwards, during the summertime, the preparations for the Minority SafePack Initiative, the European citizens’ initiative of the European minorities for which the hearing took place in September.
The meeting was therefore the first chance for the presidium as a whole to engage in a fundamental discussion on the future and development of FUEN. After some difficult years the previous team has laid the groundwork: a good situation for the new presidium to start working further. The financial situation looks promising and the expertise of FUEN and its network is sought and valued both by the minorities and by many decision-makers.
The members of the presidium used the meeting to express their desires and preferences in regard to what they wanted to achieve for FUEN, both in regard to their own contributions and to the overall goals of FUEN. They also spoke about the upcoming projects that are on the agenda for the coming months.
These include the three meetings of the Slavic, German and Turkic minorities inside FUEN, the cooperation project supporting minorities from the Western Balkan countries and the activities of FUEN in the framework of the OSCE chairmanship 2016.
