FUEN CONGRESS 2024
06.03.2025In 2024, the FUEN Annual Congress took place between 19–22 September in Husum/Hüsem, Germany, on the North Frisian coast. It was hosted by the North Frisian ethnic group and their umbrella organisation, Frasche Rädj / Friesenrat Sektion Nord.
The 2024 FUEN Congress was special as we celebrated our 75th anniversary. The event looked back at FUEN’s history and discussed the future of minority rights in Europe. Topics included the need for stronger legal protection for minorities, the role of FUEN in European politics, and the challenges faced by minority communities today.
Speakers included politicians and experts from Germany and across Europe. The FUEN Assembly of Delegates adopted a Main Resolution, calling for a European legal framework to protect and support minorities. Several other resolutions were passed on important minority issues in different countries.
The congress also included a Minority Market, excursions to North Frisian institutions, and internal working sessions of FUEN's working groups. The 2025 FUEN Congress was announced to take place in South Tyrol, Italy.
