Facing intersectional inequalities: Women of Minorities conference in Athens
15.10.2024A new conference in FUEN’s Women of Minorities project will take place at the end of the month in Athens, Greece. Dedicated to promoting the rights of minority men and women across Europe, to amplify their voices before national and international institutions, and to support their fight for equality and non-discrimination, in 2022, FUEN launched the “Women of Minorities” initiative, and the first thematic meeting “Equality standards as a tool for combating intersectional & multiple forms of discrimination” was held in 2023 in Vienna, Austria.
To continue the discussion on the topic, in 2024 FUEN organises the conference “Approaches to addressing intersectional and multiple forms of inequalities”, which aims to explore not only the range of problematic issues that some women of minorities face but also possible approaches to counteracting them.
The one-and-a-half-day conference, hosted by the FUEN member organisation Ecumenical Federation of Constantinopolitans (EFECON), will take place on 31.10.2024 – 01.11.2024 in Athens, Greece. The address of the venue is: 46 D. Soutsou Street, Athens.
Discussing different topics such as the challenges to equality, the role of state in remedying gender inequalities, women in leadership roles, presenting unique challenges such as being a Roma or living in rural area, the conference will conclude with a workshop supported by experts, meant to enable the participants to summarise the identified challenges and the possible mechanisms to address them.
