Congratulations ECMI (European Centre for Minority Issues) to your 20th anniversary in Flensburg
07.12.2016“We are glad to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the European Centre for Minority Issues today, the name day of a research institution with a lot of experience in minority questions in Europe which is at the same time very young, dynamic and open for new ideas like the ‘Bridge building Project’, that will be presented at the reception”, said FUEN Vice-president Gösta Toft.
Toft congratulates the ECMI together with FUEN Vice-president Dieter Küssner, FUEN honorary president Hans Heinrich Hansen and FUEN Secretary General Susann Schenk today at the Kompagnietor.
“The FUEN and the ECMI are not only connected through the location Flensburg but mainly because of efforts regarding rights for minorities in Europe and the practical implementation of research results, as it is happening at the moment with the Western Balkans project and the Caucasus-dialogue meeting in collaboration of FUEN and ECMI. We are hoping for many more years of good cooperation in order to strengthen Flensburg as a minority center in Europe together.
FUEN’s aim is to build bridges between minorities and majorities and that’s why the research results and the European activities of the ECMI are so important. FUEN, as an interest group of the European minorities, would like to thank the ECMI for its efforts to reduce the potential for conflict and to improve the situation of the minorities.
Also the ECMI succeeded in involving the regional minorities of the German-Danish border region, as the original concept of the minority management intended. “
This success of the ECMI requires a lot of perseverance and diplomacy of the people who work in the ECMI and stand up for its aims. To all of you:
Congratulations to 20 years of successful work!
FUEN honorary president Hans Heinrich Hansen, Vice-president Dieter Paul Küssner, Vice-president Gösta Toft, FUEN Secretary General Susann Schenk and FUEN project manager Nehle Mommsen will participate in the anniversary reception.
