The Association Seelter Buund (Heimatverein Seelter Buund e.V.) is a small association dedicated to preserving the Sater Frisian language and culture. The association was first founded in 1952. At the end of the 1960s, interest in the association declined and, after a long hiatus, it was re-established in 1977. The association's main purpose is to cultivate and promote the Sater Frisian language and to research and preserve local history, culture, customs, and traditions.

The Seelter Buund organizes a variety of activities for its members and for a wider audience, the Seelter Buund offers Sater Frisian language courses. The Seelter Buund provides information to anyone interested in the Sater Frisians, their customs, and, above all, their language. Furthermore, the Seelter Buund constantly represents the interests of the Sater Frisians as a discussion partner. It works closely with the municipality, the Oldenburgische Landschaft, and many other parties to strengthen the language. Twice a month, it provides the radio program “Middeeges” in Sater Frisian and Low German for Ems-Vechte-Welle.

The Seelter Buund also has a small collection of Saterland traditional costumes and literature. In the future, the Seelter Buund wishes to develop further into a documentation centre. Since 2002, the Seelter Buund has had its own building: the old train station in Scharrel, which was renamed “Fräiske Kultuurhuus” for its functional conversion. Activities take place regularly in the building and on the surrounding grounds, and guests are welcomed.

The Association Seelter Buund is a member of FUEN since 2025.
