The competition for hosting the EUROPEADA 2020 has begun

After the three successful European football championships of the autochthonous national minorities, hosted by the Romansh people in Grisons/Switzerland in 2008, the Lusatian Sorbs in Germany in 2012 and the German-speaking South Tyroleans and the Ladins in South Tyrol/Italy in 2016, the FUEN is looking forward to a fair competition regarding the decision of who will host the EUROPEADA 2020.

The application phase is now completed and two great individual proposals have been received by the organiser of the EUROPEADA, the FUEN. Both applicants have already received imense support from their respective regions. WE ARE EXCITED!

The two following “teams” are competing:

• The German-Danish border region (Region Sønderjylland-Schleswig) represented by the four minorities living in the area, with the motto “The EUROPEADA 2020 between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea – the cross-border football festival“

and

• The Carinthian Slovenes with the motto “The EUROPEADA 2020 in Carinthia/Koroška – TOGETHER UNIQUE/SKUPNO ENKRATNI - together we celebrate the uniqueness of our diversity in Europe“.

The two candidates will have the opportunity to present their individual concepts during a public presentation at the FUEN Congress in Cluj-Napoca • Kolozsvár • Klausenburg, Romania. On the 20.05.2017, during the Assembly of Delegates, the FUEN will finally decide on who to award with the honor of hosting the EUROPEADA 2020.
