Former FUEN President Karl Mitterdorfer from South Tyrol, Italy passed away at the age of 96.
30.01.2017Karl Mitterdorfer was FUEN President between 1977-1982 and 1990-1994.
FUEN President Loránt Vincze said: "We mourn the passing away of former FUEN President, Karl Mitterdorfer. His second presidency took place in a providential historical period, marked by the fall of the Iron Curtain. He welcomed the first member organizations from Central and Eastern Europe, and the FUEN became the umbrella organization of so many European minority communities that we know today. His work and personal commitment is a role model in our organization. May God rest his soul in peace."
Chairman of the South Tyrolean People's Party Philipp Achammer, expressed his grief: “We mourn the loss of a man who committed decades of his life to the concerns of the German and Ladin minority, e.g. in the fields of education, culture or through networking with other minorities on European level.”
