The Minority Intergroup in the European Parliament
17.02.2025The Intergroup on Traditional Minorities, National Communities, and Languages (Minority Intergroup), established in 1983, is the only forum within the EU institutions addressing national minority and regional language issues.
Its Members, drawn from various political groups and EU Member States, share a commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of European citizens belonging to national and linguistic minorities.
The Intergroup meets monthly in Strasbourg and hosts additional thematic events in Brussels. It organizes seminars and hearings with policymakers, academic experts, and civil society representatives. Additionally, it collects and shares information on minority issues and best practices across Member States, focusing on current topics related to minority rights in Europe.
