Office of the House of Minorities officially opened
In the presence of the Minority Commissioner of the Land of Schleswig-Holstein, Ms Renate Schnack, the INTERREG-project House of Minorities will celebrate the opening of its first premises at Norderstraße 78 in Flensburg on 30 October.
In the former historical merchant’s shop of the C.C. Petersen-family, directly adjacent to the Flensborghus, the new office was developed with the support from the Land of Schleswig-Holstein.
From this place, in the heart of the German-Danish region, from now on the idea of the House of Minorities – a European Centre of Information and Documentation for and about minorities – will be further pursued.
“The office at Norderstraße 78 is our showroom for the soon-to-be House of Minorities – the contact point for minority issues in Europe. We look forward to move into the building now”, said Hans Heinrich Hansen, President of FUEN.
Next to working places, the office has rooms for meetings and presentations. The focus is on the minority-model of the German-Danish border region and the 300 minorities all over Europe.
The House of Minorities is a project initiated and coordinated by the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN) and its project partners Sydslesvigsk Forening (SSF) and Bund Deutscher Nordschleswiger (BDN) that springs from the region, and works for the region and for Europe as a whole.
The project receives funding within the framework of the EU programme INTERREG 4A Suddanmark-Schleswig-K.E.R.N. from the European Regional Development Fund and from the Sydslesvigudvalg of Denmark.
