Opening event of the EUROPEADA 2016 is just around the corner
16.06.2016On Saturday, 18 June 2016 the opening event of the EUROPEADA 2016 will take place.
In the afternoon a political reception and media conference will be organised at Kronplatz, a mountain of the Dolomites with a height of 2275 metres in South Tyrol. It is a famous skiing area and known as the landmark mountain of the city of Bruneck.
The President of South Tyrol Arno Kompatscher, FUEN President Loránt Vincze and political guests of honour, representing minorities from all around Europe, will attend the opening event of the EUROPEADA 2016 in South Tyrol. Afterwards, there will be a media conference.
At 18:00 there will be a ceremonial parade of all the teams at Rathausplatz-square in Bruneck and the opening of the EUROPEADA 2016.
The EUROPEADA, the 2016 European football championship of the autochthonous, national minorities is held from 18 to 26 June 2016 in South Tyrol. At the same time as EURO 2016 in France, twenty-four teams will be competing for the title in the Pustertal and Val Badia/Gadertal valleys, an increase over the 19 teams at the last championship.
The tournament is organised by FUEN, and hosted by the Ladins and the German-speaking South Tyroleans, twice-winners of the EUROPEADA. A great difference to UEFA’s EURO is that 2016 marks the first women’s competition. Just as the men’s teams, the women’s teams are also entirely made up members of minorities.
