7th Annual Meeting of the FUEN Working Group on Education to be held in Western Thrace (Greece)
29.09.2025The 7th Annual Meeting of the FUEN Working Group on Education will take place from 10 to 13 November 2025 in Xanthi and Komotini (Western Thrace, Greece). The meeting will focus on minority schooling systems, Turkish minority education in Greece and the teaching of minority history.
Keynote speeches and panels will address different models of minority education across Europe. Special attention will be given to the situation of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace, with discussions on educational autonomy and fundamental challenges faced by minority schools in the region.
The programme also includes country reports, a round table on teaching minority history and visits to local Turkish schools in Xanthi and Komotini, offering first-hand insights into their pedagogical approaches and best practices.
The event is hosted by FUEN in cooperation with its member organisations Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF), Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (WTMUGA) and Friendship, Equality and Peace Party (FEP). Cultural activities will complement the conference, providing further opportunities for exchange and networking.
