Women of Minorities: New Women for a New World
22.09.2025In the latest video of our “Women of Minorities” project, three politicians from Norway, Slovakia and Croatia share what it means to be politically active as women, mothers and members of national minorities.
Ingeborg Larssen, a Sámi lawyer from northern Norway, talks about structural barriers and unequal starting conditions – and why women in politics should talk about more than just land and resource rights.
Adrianna Papp, from the Hungarian minority in Slovakia, stepped into her late mother’s role as mayor, a dedicated local politician, unexpectedly and without preparation, but with a strong sense of responsibility.
And Tanja Golubić, Deputy County Head in Croatia and representative of the Czech minority, was elected as the only woman and the youngest member of a political body. She continued her path despite doubts, a baby and prejudice.
All three are united by the will to create change and by the desire to inspire other women to walk their own path.

Background: The "Women of Minorities" project
The "Women of Minorities" project is an initiative of FUEN and aims to strengthen the representation and rights of women in minority communities across Europe.
A survey among FUEN member organisations revealed that although women are represented in the organisations, leadership positions are predominantly held by men. While many organisations are aware of the principles of gender equality, there is often a lack of official guidelines and training. Obstacles such as lack of promotion, lack of awareness and stereotypes within the organisations hinder equality.
In 2023 and 2024, FUEN organised events in Vienna (Austria) and Athens (Greece) on this topic, which attracted wide interest. The third meeting will take place from 1 to 3 December 2025 in Budapest, Hungary, under the title “Equal Political Participation and Representation”.
