International Roma Day
08.04.2016On International Roma Day, FUEN urges national authorities, international institutions and the people at large to undertake more efforts to combat discrimination and anti-Gypsyism and further the inclusion of Roma and Sinti.
Numerous studies have shown the high level of discrimination and hate crime faced by Roma throughout Europe. Surveys have demonstrated that Roma are the most discriminated groups in Europe, with every second Roma reporting having been discriminated against over the previous year and a fifth having been victims of racist assault, threat or serious harassment.
FUEN firmly believes that in the 21st century it is not acceptable that the largest autochthonous minority within Europe is virtually excluded from participating in the economic and social development in Europe.
At the EUROPEADA 2016, the European Championship for the autochthonous national minorities in Europe, one of the teams will be the Roma National Football Team from Hungary.
