Floods in Central Europe: Statement by FUEN
16.09.2024The heavy rainfall of the last few days has caused devastating floods in parts of the Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. Flooding is also expected in eastern Germany in the coming hours.
In these difficult times the Federal Union of European Nationalities stands by the side of all people who are affected by this natural disaster. Our special sympathy goes to the members of the national minorities who live in the flooded areas and who have to fear for their existence or even for their lives.
In view of this critical situation, FUEN calls for solidarity and supports all efforts to alleviate the consequences of the floods and to assist the local population. In times of crisis such as these, it is of utmost importance to stand together and help each other.
We wish all those affected much strength and endurance to overcome this challenge and hope that the situation will improve soon.
