Over 300.000 statements of support submitted to the national authorities in Romania
11.04.2018The representatives of the Hungarian minority in Romania (RMDSZ) have submitted the statements of support signed for the Minority SafePack Initiative to the competent national authorities of the country. The process of submitting the petitions to the national authorities was started in Romania as the Hungarian minority in Transylvania has pioneered the initiative from the very beginning, and Romania has been the first state to pass the national threshold – FUEN President Loránt Vincze pointed out.
The President of the Federal Union of European Nationalities stated: “Our goal for the upcoming period is to present the initiative to the national governments and parliaments and to remind them that guaranteeing the protection of minority rights will take away nothing from majority communities. On the contrary, it will help strengthen fundamental European values, and it will make the continent richer. We aim for the EU level acknowledgement and protection of cultural and linguistic diversity”.
