Dear member organisations of FUEN, dear friends of FUEN,

It is for us a great pleasure to be able to announce that the jubilee congress of FUEN (Federal Union of European Nationalities) will take place in Brussels from 29 September until 2 October 2009.

The FUEN-congress will be organised in Brussels in cooperation with the German-speaking Community in Belgium and with the Committee of the Regions.

It is an honour for us that the EU Commissioner for Multilingualism, Leonard Orban, accepted our invitation to attend the congress.

The president of FUEN, Hans Heinrich Hansen, invites you all for the jubilee reception on the occasion of 60 years FUEN on 1 October.

The Assembly of Delegates of FUEN will take place on 2 October.

For the last day of the congress the German-speaking Community invited us to Eupen.

The preliminary programme is enclosed. The invitation to participate in the congress will be available before the summer break.

• Arrival and check-in of the participants
• Get together: meet and greet of the participants,

Wednesday, 30th of September 2009

• 09:00 opening
• 10:00 -14:00 visit tour Brüssel and guided visit in the European Parliament
• 14:00 -18:00 : Right to Political Participation – keynote speech,
workshops and adoption
• 20:00 Uhr reception and choir-project of the minorities together

Thursday 1st of October 2009

• 10:00-12:00 presentation of the Competence Analysis “National Minorities as a Standortfaktor in the German-Danish border region”, in the building
of the Committee of the Regions

• 14:00 60 years FUEN with celebration speech in the building of the
Committee of the Regions

• Jubilee celebration 60 years FUEN

Friday 2nd of October 2009

• 09:00 hr Assembly of Delegates of FUEN
• followed by: action of the Youth of European Nationalities (YEN)
• 13:00 hr excursion in cooperation with the German-speaking community
in Belgium and final evening at the German-speaking Community
- circa 14.00 hr Arrival of the congress-participants in Eupen
- from 14.30 hr visits to institutions
- Labour bureau of the German-speaking Community
- Business development corporation
- Parliament of the German-speaking Community
- Belgian Radio

- from circa 18.30 hr dinner together and conclusion of the congress.
